Controlled IIoT connection of SCADA/PLC data
Specific energy and condition indicators
Status discrepancy worksheet and feedback
The first requirement for the production data connection is not a spectacular dashboard, but respecting the boundaries of the production network and control. The PLC or SCADA still controls the local process; the IIoT layer collects status, energy, and production context over a controlled, typically read-only data connection.

The daily energy consumption of a machine line in two shifts is 1,600 kWh. That alone doesn't tell you if it worked well. If 8,000 good pieces and 400 scraps were produced on the same day, the value per good product is 0.20 kWh/piece. In the pilot, the energy demand of downtime and waste cycles can be examined separately, so maintenance and technological reasons are not confused.
The example is not an offer, a promise of savings or a general compliance requirement; the final technical solution is determined by the on-site and process survey.
The OT/IT boundary, network segmentation, permitted protocols and data direction must be recorded before connection. The pilot cannot write to the controller or change a safety function without a specially approved plan. The measured anomaly is not a diagnosis in itself; the maintenance feedback will become knowledge that can be used later.
The pilot will be preceded by an OT safety and data point survey. We record the access method, the allowed read variables, the sampling request and the source of the production context per machine. The connection is first initiated in an isolated environment and then through an approved network path. We build a complete detection and feedback chain for a selected type of loss — for example, idling, micro shutdown or specific energy difference. The condition of acceptance is that production continues to function safely, the lack of data is visible, and the maintainer can clearly indicate the correctness of the assumed cause.
In the first phase, the following two areas will be controlled: machine cycle, number of pieces, downtime and quality event and electricity, compressed air, gas or technological medium. The goal is not to connect all sites, devices and historical data at the same time. First, we verify that a reliable decision and a work process that can be closed are made from the selected data. To finalize the scope, two questions are particularly important: Which data point can be read without production risk? How is network and authorization separation done? The answers determine the device count, integration task, local data storage, roles, and acceptance test.
